Home Grown spotlights one local Ag student

In today’s Home Grown we spotlight one of Yuma’s local agriculture students.

Graham Ashby at the Arizona Western College is working towards his Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural and Technology Management and Education.

He has lived in Yuma most of his life and hopes to be a first generation grower. His love for agriculture came after taking an agriculture class that some of his friends were taking. He told 13 On Your Side that he knew after the first class that he was hooked on Ag.

Ashby encourages anyone interested in the Ag profession to take that leap and give it a try.

“My favorite thing still to this date is being able to put a seed into the ground and watching a plant grow and then being able to take whatever that product is at harvest time to someone and seeing their face light up, that is my favorite thing.”

Ashby is just one of the many talented and highly motivated students pursuing agriculture. We wish him the very best as he continues his education journey!

If you are interested in pursuing a career in agriculture there are many different avenues to take. The Arizona Western College offers many opportunities in Ag.
