8 students hospitalized after taking pills at local school

One student was arrested Monday after he allegedly brought prescription drugs to San Pasqual High School, leading to the hospitalization of eight students.

The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office said the students were hospitalized after ingesting the prescription drugs. Officials did not inform us what kind of prescription medication they took.

The San Pasqual School District Superintendent Rauna Fox said the students were either taken by ambulance or by their parents to Yuma Regional Medical Center for further treatment.

Fox said the school resource officer and the Imperial County Fire Department were contacted to ensure the safety of the students affected. She added all students, including those hospitalized, are now safe.

One student was taken into custody and released to their parents.

The incident is still under investigation.
