Shooting victim speaks about area of home before death

One of the 5th Street shooting victims spoke to News 11 about the area he lived in on August 17.

Grady Baxter, 20, spoke after witnessing a high-risk area search warrant involving several weapons being presented nearby his apartment at Citrus Grove Rentals. He said the area was dangerous.

Just three weeks later, Nicholas Grabbe, 19, Javier Sanchez, 24, and Baxter were all found dead inside of the property.

It has been confirmed that the three lived together.

One neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, described what he witnessed leading up to the shooting.

“I see all the time a lot of kids, no kids but guys like 18, 19, 20. One car coming, another coming. I see a lot of guys. I don’t talk to him, white and Mexican, all the time. I see white people, but I don’t have relationships with these guys.”

Yuma County Sheriff’s Office has no new updates on the investigation.

There are no suspects behind bars and YCSO does not believe this was a random event.
