Chargers to find new identity in the city of Angels
Los Angeles is once again the home of the Chargers. Several San Diegans have expressed the team’s move has rubbed them the wrong way, leaving many disappointed. However, there is still a handful of fans who are supporting the bolts wherever they go.
It is really the loyal fans that have made the team, sticking around through thick and thin.
Chargers are now in the fight to be LA’s favorite team. Since their move back to Los Angeles they knew earning respect in the city will not come easy.
“It is a long season…You know you are going to have turnovers, you are going to make some bad plays…you are going to make some big-time plays…But on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday…No matter what you have to be the same,” said Philip Rivers, Chargers starting quarterback, on the team practicing consistency.
They preach ‘We don’t expect you to give us love…We expect to earn it,’ and they are willing to do whatever it takes.
“I will say it is all a mindset you know, just making sure we all play together in all three phases: offense, defense, and special teams,” said Denzel Perryman, Chargers Linebacker.
With a new head coach, Anthony Lynn and the transition, this is who the Chargers are now: A team fighting to earn their city’s respect.
Last season they finished 9-7, proving to the fans they have potential, but now fans want more as many expect a Super Bowl run.
“I mean last year we finished 9-7, our record was what it was…This year our main focus is to play full 16 games,” said Perryman.
