Cancer Resource Center helping patients one day at a time

The Cancer Resource Center is the light for those diagnosed with cancer with the help of the community here in Yuma.

The center’s focus is to help anyone undergoing cancer treatment or that may feel like they are alone get through the difficult process. Money donations from the community are distributed to best help their patients with whatever they may need, including gas money.

The community has even helped with donations like head coverings, blankets and much more.

The CRC provides patients with liquid nutrition, as available, to help them maintain their body weight and strength while going through treatment.

Volunteer Chairman of the CRC Chris Jones says they use grants they receive for the right purposes and is looking forward to adding many more resources as they become available.

“The last grant we also got money that we are going to give gift certificates to caregivers and that one is still being established because we have to print out the certificates but that will be the next one so that we can also take care of the caregivers because it’s difficult for the caregiver going through the process of cancer with the cancer patient,” said Jones.

The center also provides bras and prosthetics along with wigs that can help the patients feel more at ease when going out into the world.

They are dedicated to providing a safe place for patients in the community and are determined to continue to expand.

The CRC is located on the second floor of the Yuma Regional Medical Center and is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
