Child sex offender arrested near Gadsden

A Mexican national with a history of sexual and spousal abuse was arrested by Border Patrol agents near Gadsden, Ariz. Friday night.

Yuma Sector agents arrested 49-year-old Narcisco Valadez-Velazquez near Levee Road, close to County 17th Street. Authorities said Valadez had just entered the United States illegally from Mexico by crossing the Colorado River. He said he was headed to Pomona, Calif. to visit family.

During processing, agents discovered Valadez was convicted of a felony for lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14-years-old in Riverside, Calif. and served three years in prison. He also has a felony conviction for inflicting corporal injury on a spouse.

Valadez was previously removed from the U.S. in 2012. He is now facing charges for re-entry after deportation as an aggravated felon.
