YPG celebrates Women’s Equality day with luncheon

It has now been over 100 years since women earned the right to vote. Women’s Equality Day is officially on Sunday, August 26th, but the Yuma Proving Ground celebrated all their women with a luncheon on Thursday, August 23rd, honoring how far women have come. Speakers, Lynne Pancrazi and Stephanie Gattas both shared their journey of being women who have broken the glass ceiling.

Stephanie Gattas is CEO of Pink Berets, an organization designed to help those with what is best known as invisible injuries. Gattas describes invisible injuries as “women who have suffered from sexual trauma or even PTSD, post-traumatic stress disorder. ”

Pancrazi focused more on the importance of pioneer women who led the way, saying “without them, there would be no progress.”

Several local officials also attended the luncheon like border patrol agents and Yuma Police personnel, just to name a few. Girl Scouts were also in attendance.

This is the Yuma Proving Ground’s annual event in which they hope to encourage women to keep an open dialogue and continue to grow.
