Man caught in possession of child pornography
Officers at the Calexico West port of entry arrested a 24-year-old man after discovering he was in possession of child pornography, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The incident happened at approximately five a.m. on Friday when a man entered the port of entry as a pedestrian. An officer requested more information on the man’s travel arrangements and the man stated that the information was located on his phone.
CBP said the man handed the officer the device with a screenshot of his information, then later the officer observed what appeared to be a photo of a naked minor.
Officers escorted the man to a secure area for further inspection and discovered numerous videos and images of minors engaging in sexual acts.
CBP officers turned the man over to Homeland Security Investigations agents for further processing.
“CBP protects the American public and our local community when we enforce the law at our nation’s borders,” said Director of Field Operations in San Diego, Pete Flores. “Because of the vigilance of a CBP officer a man will face charges for possessing such disturbing media.”
