Who will you nominate for this year’s “Heart of Yuma” Awards?

The “Heart of Yuma” Awards is in its 19th year and continues to recognize those who seek to promote the welfare of others in the community.

Created by the Arizona Community Foundation of Yuma, the organization focuses on securing, managing and allocating local donors for charitable purposes in our area.

There are seven categories including outstanding leader and outstanding volunteer. Those nominated will be recognized at the ceremony by receiving a glass heart. The winners will also receive a plaque with their name on it and major recognition by the foundation.

“The nominations are done through our online portal. We have an online form, downloadable form and basically, it comes from the community. These nominations are from you, me, from people out in the community who just say, wait a minute, this person does really amazing things and I have never seen them recognized,” said Veronica Shorr, regional director of the Arizona Community Foundation of Yuma.

The nomination deadline is September 21st with the “Heart of Yuma” event taking place on October 23rd at the Yuma Civic Center.

All nominations will be reviewed and narrowed down by the Heart of Yuma blue ribbon panel.
