CBP confirms tunnel found at vacant building

U.S. Customs and Border Protection confirmed Wednesday morning a tunnel was found inside a vacant building on San Luis Plaza Drive.

CBP officials said they cannot disclose what the tunnel was being used for, its dimensions or if it runs into Mexico. It is fairly close to the U.S.-Mexico border.

U.S. Homeland Security Investigations said an active investigation was underway at the vacant building that used to serve as a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant.

Authorities said the investigation was expected to remain active for a few days and advised the public to stay away from the area.
