Local man tries to become “internet sensation” by pointing fake gun, gets himself arrested

EL CENTRO- An El Centro man was arrested after illegally altering an imitation handgun and pointing it at a woman’s head.

An Imperial County Sheriff’s Investigator driving in an unmarked vehicle noticed 18-year-old Bryce Mejia driving near Austin and Ross Road. Mejia was holding what appeared to be a handgun to the front female passenger’s head, as the vehicle swerved. More law enforcement units were called in and Mejia was pulled over. He was arrested for altering the appearance of an imitation firearm. Law enforcement say his actions were intended to cause fear to oncoming drivers to try and become the “next internet sensation.”
