Joy Lenz takes the pledge to read ’15 Pages A Day’

The Paper and Packaging ‘How Life Unfolds’ campaign is integrating the importance of reading and distancing from tech devices during family time with a new pledge called “15 Pages A Day.”

The pledge as well as research has shown that just like physical exercise, reading at least 15 pages a day on paper has serious health benefits.

Reading on tech devices has shown to have negative side effects like sleep deprivation and decline in memory, therefore Lenz encourages parents to cut back on screen time and reflects on a much simpler time when tech devices were not the first option as a form of entertainment.

“The older millennials remember what it was like when life was a lot simpler you were just limited to you know the 10 channels we had on TV or reading a book and when our parents would say I’m bored my mom would say well go outside and play with sticks or take a book out and sit in a tree what do you want me to do,” said Joy Lenz.

“What was great about that is that it really fostered a love of learning in me, it opened up my mind, my imagination went wild, and I learned social skills like listening when she would read to me or the art of storytelling when I would read back to her. So I am trying to foster this in my child as well,” said Lenz.
