Araby Road ramp closures expected until September
The eastbound Interstate 8 entry and exit ramps at Araby Road will be closed beginning next Monday until September, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).
Crews will be constructing a new retaining wall as part of an ADOT project upgrading the interchange. ADOT officials inform I-8 drivers to use exits at Avenue 3E, Avenue 1/2 E, and 32nd Street during the closure beginning on August 13.
Araby Road is currently restricted to one lane in each direction between 26th and 30th streets near I-8, with no left turn from northbound Araby to Gila Ridge Road.
The westbound lane of Gila Ridge Road, that has been closed since May, will also reopen on Monday, between Araby and the Tanimura and Antle Produce building located at 6435 Gila Ridge Road.
The completion of the second half of a project will replace traditional traffic signals with modern roundabouts at the Araby Road interchange, said ADOT. The roundabout will be larger enough to accommodate large trucks, recreational vehicles, and agricultural equipment.
The current work south of I-8 is scheduled to be completed this fall.
