Man shot, wounded in Yuma neighborhood

A 26-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound on Sunday night, according to the Yuma Police Department.

YPD officers responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 10:30 p.m. near 1st Avenue and 24th Street but learned it happened a street over, in the area of 26th Street and Madison Avenue

Several suspects fled the scene both on foot and in vehicles, according to police.

Officers said they saw a car leave at a high rate of speed before a high risk vehicle stop was conducted and found the 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound.

The man was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries and the other two passengers were taken into custody, according to police.

The area of 26th Street and Madison Avenue and 2nd Avenue and 18th Street are shut down while police continue their investigation.
