Suspect in officer-involved shooting faces new charges

One of the suspects accused of exchanging fire with Yuma police appeared in court Monday.

23-year-old Luis German Juarez is now facing six felony charges that include first-degree attempted murder and assisting a criminal street gang.

Juarez was only facing four felony charges on Thursday.

His bond is still set at $250,000 cash only.

The suspect had two pending cases in Yuma Municipal Court and Yuma County Superior Court when he allegedly fired shots at officers, according to court records.

Yuma Police responded to a graffiti call near 22nd Street and Madison Avenue on Wednesday night.

The graffiti has since been ruled as gang-related.

Officers were approached by Juarez and 17-year-old suspect. The suspects are accused of firing shots at officers and officers returned fire, according to Yuma police.
