Charges dismissed for man connected to motel shooting

The charges against 37-year-old Steven Brown have been dismissed and his one million dollar bond has been dropped, according to court records.

Brown’s upcoming court appearances have also been dismissed, stated in court records.

The charges were dismissed without prejudice which means the case needs a more thorough investigation before it can be re-filed.

Brown was arrested on suspicion of the death of Pearla Patton Sanchez and was booked on multiple charges that included first-degree murder.

The Yuma Police Department responded to shots fired in the 1600 block of Riley Avenue and found Sanchez with a single gunshot wound in a parking lot near Super 8 Motel on Saturday, June 30.

She was later transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center and was pronounced dead.
