BP agents arrest sex offender and attempted murder suspect
Border Patrol agents arrested a previously deported sex offender and a previously deported attempted murder suspect over the weekend.
The first arrest was made on Friday at approximately 3:45 p.m. after agents arrested eight individuals for illegally entering the United States, east of Calexico.
Investigations revealed that 35-year-old Rodrigo Banales-Alvarado, has a previous conviction for a sex offense in 2014.
Banales was convicted of first-degree felony aggravated assault of a child and was sentenced to five years confinement.
The second arrest came shortly after, when agents arrested 29-year-old Omar Rosales-Leon for illegally entering the country.
Rosales-Leon has a felony arrest warrant for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and vehicle theft out of Imperial County.
“These potentially dangerous men will not be free to cause further havoc on the public thanks to the United States Border Patrol and their fine work,” said El Centro Sector Assistant Chief Patrol Agent David S. Kim.
