Athletes have mixed emotions on new NFL helmet rule

It is clear that with all the new rules and regulations coming into place the NFL just isn’t the same game it once was anymore.

The helmet rule is taking into effect this season.

The rule was put in place to promote player safety, but the players and coaches just aren’t having it.

The rule is more complex than it seems.

The rule states: It is ruled a foul if a player lowers his head to initiate and make contact with his helmet against an opponent.

A foul will result in the loss of 15 yards and the offending player can be tossed depending on three ejection standards.

Those three ejection standards are if a player lowers his helmet to establish a linear body posture prior to initiation and making contact with the helmet; player delivering his blow had an obstructed path to his opponent and contact was clearly avoidable, player delivering the blow had other options.

Now a lot of players are saying this rule is too confusing and it might change the game, but it it is a lot more difficult than it is simple.
