YPD: Suspect could possibly be victim of drive-by shooting
A frightening moment in a Yuma neighborhood after police officers responded to reports of shots fired Wednesday morning.
Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that happened around 5:16 a.m. It happened in the 300 block of S. 17th Avenue, according to police.
The investigation revealed two vehicles were involved with the victim’s vehicle colliding with a pole.
Authorities said the driver of the vehicle with the pole fled the scene on foot. After he fled, he pointed a handgun at a citizen who was attempting to stop him.
He got rid of the weapon and illegally entered a home in the 200 block of Magnolia Avenue, according to police.
The driver fled the residence and was taken into custody. He’s been booked on multiple charges.
Police said the driver of the vehicle that collided with the pole is possibly the victim of the drive-by shooting.
Police are still searching for the suspect vehicle.
This case is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
