New report places Arizona’s school system 47th in the nation
The quality of public schools differs from state to state. There are a few factors that can be considered when talking about school quality.
A recent study shows both the best and the worst school systems in the United States. Three states and the District of Columbia ranked lower than Arizona in a recent study.
The WalletHub study, released Monday, takes into account 25 key measures of quality, including performance, funding, safety, instructor credentials, and class sizes.
Arizona ranked 47th in the nation, only scoring 37.53 points out of 80 points possible. California ranked 37th in the nation, 46.33 points out of possible 80 points.
Arizona ranked 50th in the nation for pupil-per-teacher ratio, with California following in 51st place.
The Grand Canyon State ranks 40th for percentage of licensed teachers, and near the bottom for Median ACT/SAT scores.
The state with the highest score was Massachusetts, with 74.16 points, while the lowest score went to New Mexico, which received only 31.53 points.
