Candidate goes on a 5,000-mile campaign trail on a bike

A man running for office combines his desire for office with his passion for biking.

Candidate for California State Secretary Mark Meuser is on the campaign trail on a bike across 58 counties – that’s over 100 stops! He said it’s a unique approach to running for office.

“By doing something different maybe that will cause my message to reach out a little bit more, more people will pay attention to it because we’re doing something different,” Meuser said.

He said it gave him a great opportunity to be in touch with communities.

“Every day I’m talking to people, whether it’s when I stop for breakfast or whether I’m at meetings such as this where there’s a group of people,” Meuser said.

His message is that the integrity of elections do matter.

“We actually have some real serious problems when it comes to voting here in the United States and particularly here in the state of California when it comes to administrating our elections, election integrity, making sure that our vote can’t be hacked; making sure that only those people who are eligible to vote are actually voting,” Meuser said.

Some locals welcomed him in Imperial County as he biked through the area and spoke to a group of supporters.

City of Imperial resident Sayrs Morris said, “It’s a great way to get people excited, show people that he really cares. He’s out raising awareness as a servant.”

Indio resident Jeff Gonzalez said, “I love the fact that he talks about going down and doing grass roots and he’s applying that by riding his bicycle across the entire state.”

Meuser took a short break to share some of his experience.

“Over the last couple of days I went through Death Valley, Baker, Needles, Blythe, here. Tomorrow I’m going up to palm desert and then up to big bear and up the central valley,” Meuser said.

Meuser’s tour started July 9 th and will end August 23 rd . It’ll cover nearly 5,000 miles.
