Non-profit helps local artists

In Wednesday’s Making A Difference, a non-profit organization is encouraging those in Yuma County to further their artistic aspirations.

Their motto, “Helping grow heart-strings and growing heart-smiles, one individual at a time, with business and community support.

17-year-old Alia Gizzi came up with this idea when she was just 13-years-old and now A.R.T.S, which stands for “Artists Reaching to Serve” The organization has officially become a non-profit of the state by helping those of all ages achieve their dream in their craft. Whether it be writing or singing or dancing, there is a place for you.

On Friday, August 3rd, the non-profit is hosting a formal attire event called, “Taking on Joffrey” at Emerald Springs retirement facility.

“They’re going to see all sorts of talent. They are going to see music and dance and we have a wonderful pianist, Kolt Supa. All of the proceeds from “Taking on Joffrey” will be going towards our scholarship fund for those associated with A.R.T.S,” said Alia Gizzi, A.R.T.S founder.

The event will be from 7:30 to 10 p.m. and will include catering by chef Alex of the Patio Restaurant. Tickets are available now at

17-year-old Alia will soon be headed to New York City where she has accepted a spot at Joffrey’s Ballet S chool . To hear more of her story, we will have a B rightside story on her journey coming up later this week.
