The Humane Society of Yuma holds second annual summer camp program

Does your child have a love and passion for learning about animals? The Humane Society of Yuma is holding its second annual round of summer camp programs where your kids can learn how to be champions for their pet.

July 16 through July 20 is the sixth session of camp-themed : Marketing Mutts and Meows.

Kids ages 12-13 will be able to work on a week-long project in order to create a Humane Society of Yuma mission-driven campaign.

Throughout the rest of the year, the marketing department for the Humane Society of Yuma will use the camper’s projects whether it be through video production, graphic design or print distribution.

Alyssa Adkins, education and community outreach coordinator for the Humane Society of Yuma, helped create the themes each week and was able to extend the camp program from four to seven weeks.

“We’ve seen a lot of kids that are returning from last year,” Adkins said.

Because of the previous success of the camp, there is a maximum capacity of 30 kids per week session.

To register your child for camp, you can stop by the main shelter on 4050 S Ave. 4 1/2 E or call the front office at (928) 782-1621.

Each week’s camp is from 12-5 P.M. at the main shelter.

Sessions are $95 per camper and $75 for additional siblings and a $50 non-refundable deposit is required.

If you cannot sign up your child in time for this week, there is still one more week of camp running from J uly 23-27.

For that last session, kids will be able to learn about the biology of pets, as well as the domestication of animals.
