Yuma Lodge #24 to hold “takeover” fundraiser at Yuma Landing Sports Bar and Grill
On Saturday, July 7, The Yuma Landing Sports Bar and Grill is hosting a fundraiser event for the Fraternal Order of Police Yuma Lodge Fallen Officer Memorial.
Until 1 A.M., Yuma Landing will donate 20 percent of the bill towards the Monument Project which will be built to honor the fallen officers from the Yuma area communities.
For entertainment, Los Salgados Band will be playing at the bar from 7 P.M. to 11 P.M.
In addition to the 20 percent donated by Yuma Landing, Yuma Lodge #24 will be accepting cash donations at the event.
The F.O.P. is a group of 350,000 law enforcement officers both locally and statewide with the purpose to fight for officer’s rights.
Several years ago, the current president Eric Egan wanted to help honor fallen officers. Though there is a state monument in Phoenix, Egan wanted to create a local monument.
The monument will be built at the Pacific Avenue Athletic Complex. A block wall will showcase black plaques with a fallen officer’s name, agency, and their end of watch date.
Amongst these fallen officer plaques is Cornelius Sage who was the first local law enforcement officer to be killed in the line of duty.
Yuma Lodge #24 is hoping to raise the $100,000 needed for construction through fundraisers and donations from local construction companies as well as the community.
Any money earned past their goal will be put into a fund to maintain the memorial over the years.
Because F.O.P. is considered a 501 C3, members of the community can receive a tax write off if they choose to donate to the Arizona Fraternal Order Police Foundation.
For a tax-deductible donation to the foundation, you can mail checks to:
