UPDATE
Authorities have arrested a woman suspected of killing her husband at a home located in the 900 block of Silver Dust Trail in Hemet early Monday morning.
The Hemet Police/Fire Communications Center said they received a call of a man who was shot at around 6:19 a.m. Hemet police arrived at the scene to find 41-year-old Hector Navarrete who was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Hemet law enforcement about a homicide suspect possibly driving through Imperial County. Hours later, deputies caught 42-year-old Beatriz Navarrette who police say is wanted for the murder of her husband.
“It was believed that the suspect had fled the scene in Hemet. And was headed towards Mexico. And that it was most likely gonna go through our county. So what did we did, we ended up deploying our resources to assist Hemet Police Department. And we were able to locate the suspect,” said Lt. Jimmy Duran, Imperial County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said criminals use Imperial County as a gateway for their attempts to escape the law. Duran said, “We are a preferred location or destination for individuals who commit crimes in those counties. And a lot of times it just past through. Because they’re heading into Mexico. Or they’re heading east bound towards Arizona or Texas.”
Communication among law enforcement is vital to catching criminals. “Thanks to the great communications between all agencies involved, and the Hemet Police Department not hesitating to call us. This was a success,” said Duran.
The case is still under investigation by the Hemet Police Department.
