43 pounds of meth found inside vehicle’s secret compartment
Border Patrol agents arrested a man suspected of smuggling methamphetamine hidden inside a secret compartment of a Jeep Sunday morning.
At around 10 a.m., a Jeep arrived at the Highway 86 checkpoint where a canine detection team alerted to the vehicle.
During an inspection, agents found 49 packages hidden inside the firewall of the vehicle. Agents tested the contents of the packages that tested positive for meth.
The total weight of the drugs was 43 pounds and had an estimated street value of $142,428.
The man, a 33-year-old Mexican national, vehicle, and narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
