Driver blames heat and bad repair work for car catching fire

A car caught fire and the driver blamed the heat and bad repair work.

An unidentified Calexico driver had to pull into the driveway of a local fast-food restaurant when his car started going up in flames. He managed to escape but the car sustained serious damage. The fire department came to put the flames out. The driver told police he had some repair work done on the motor recently. He believes bad mechanical work and the excessive heat of the afternoon contributed to the car burning.

Calexico Police Officer Oscar Ruiz said, “He told me that the fire department said seems like a hose was broken or ripped off. It started the fire. It was the hose that goes directly to the gasoline of the vehicle. So, that’s what actually started the fire.”

Temperatures were around 113 degrees Fahrenheit on Friday afternoon in Calexico when the incident happened.
