Lane restrictions on Gila Ridge Road extended

Yuma drivers should expect for extended lane restrictions on Gila Ridge Road near the Interstate 8 and Araby Road traffic interchange improvement project.

Contractors will continue to work an underground water system and retaining wall and restrictions are scheduled to remain in place until June 29, according to Arizona Department of Transportation.

This includes the closure of Gila Ridge Road in both directions near the Tanimura and Antle Produce building. Drivers can access businesses on Gila Ridge Road by using Avenue 3E.

In addition, Yuma drivers should plan to use detour routes and allow plenty of extra travel time while these restrictions are in place:

The eastbound I-8 off-ramp at Araby Road is closed until mid-August. Araby road continues to be reduced to one lane in both directions between 30th and 26th streets through fall 2018. An 11-foot vehicle width restriction is in place for northbound and southbound traffic on Araby Road. Westbound traffic will be permitted on Gila Ridge Road after 5:00 p.m. Friday, June 22.

Alternate routes include Avenue 3E and 32nd Street. This phase of the project should be completed fall 2018.

ADOT is building the second roundabout at I-8 and Araby Road (State Route 195) on the south side of the intersection. Learn more about the I-8 and Araby Road traffic interchange improvement project on the project web site .
