Former police officer charged with more sex crimes

A former police officer accused of sex crimes is hit with more charges as another victim comes forward.

Two new charges are being brought against former City of Imperial Police Officer Ray Valenzuela.

Valenzuela is accused of multiple sex charges against a minor. He was in court in Brawley Wednesday morning.

His bail is currently set at one million dollars. The District Attorney’s Office wants to increase that by $35,000 based on the new charges and his preliminary hearing is set for July 2nd. The D.A. said they’ll have several witnesses that day.

Valenzuela was arrested in February in a joint operation by the Sheriff’s Office and City of Imperial Police.
