Over 6,900 votes still uncounted in Imperial County

Imperial County officials said Thursday that over 6,900 votes are still left to be processed following the June 5 primary elections.

The Imperial County Registrar of Voters submitted a report to California’s Secretary of State this week detailing that there are close to 7,000 unprocessed votes comprised of vote-by-mail, provisional, conditional voter registration, and others that still require further review.

Of the unprocessed ballots, 5,942 are vote-by-mail ballots that were hand-delivered a few days prior and the day of Election Day, according to officials.

The unofficial results are available at the Registrar’s website and are the tallied results of the semifinal official canvass of the vote. Officials said the numbers will be updated Friday evening with the totaled results processed since Election Day.

Registrar staff is expected to have all unprocessed votes counted by Tuesday, June 12.
