Hyundai of Yuma singer search in full swing
The competition has begun and there is no doubt, Yuma has a lot of talent.
The Hyundai of Yuma sponsored the singer search event on Sunday afternoon from 1pm-4pm.
Many locals participated in the first-ever singer search competition in Yuma. The event comes about mirroring the come back of the American singing competition, American Idol.
Many contestants that participated on Sunday were high school students. The competition was open to ages 14 through 25, but Hyundai took in all auditions and welcomed all.
John Baladi, Director of Operations at Hyundai of Yuma, thought it would be a great idea for Hyundai to sponsor this event. The energy from the crowd and atmosphere was vibrant and positive.
From these auditions nine finalists have been concluded:
Ahmyah Tate, Christopher Johnson, Elias Wiley, Gisselle Zavala, Harrison Hodge, Jessica Limon, Mallory Lemmon, Sylvette Perez and Xcaret Ramos.
Judges for this round of auditions were the following: Ericka Nelson, Assistant Music Teacher at Cibola, Shelley Mellon, Singer and community leader, Mark Schofield, 13 On Your Side talent and Brandon Strout, CHS choir and Band Director. Judges are subject to change at any time.
These nine semi-finalists will now be videotaped performing for a series of TV commercials to air on TV. The top 9 will be broken up into groups of three. Voting will begin March 11th on Hyundaiofyuma.com.
Voting by the general public will determine the winner of each round. Each round will have one finalist. Three finalists will then be entered into the final round of voting, and the qualifying finalist with the most votes will win the contest if all requirements are met, including but not limited to the sole discretion of Hyundai of Yuma and its partners.
The grand prize is $1,000 delivered by Hyundai of Yuma within 90 days of the end of the contest. All taxes, or other fees, are the responsibility of the winner.
