El Centro PD recovers three stolen vehicles

An officer issuing a citation received an alert from the Automated License Plate Recognition software on his in-car computer to a stolen vehicle that had just passed his location on Tuesday, May 29, at approximately 9:12 p.m.

The license plate matched that of a Bronze Chevrolet HHR and after the officer completed his traffic stop, he drove after the Chevrolet and requested additional officers.

The Chevrolet had been reported stolen on Saturday, May 19.

Officers conducted a high risk stop in the area of 1000 Adams where the driver and passengers fled on foot.

Officers were successful at apprehending the driver after he attempted to conceal himself in a dumpster.

The driver was a 16-year-old resident of El Centro and was arrested without incident and booked at juvenile hall for felony possession of stolen property.

The passengers were not located.

On Saturday, May 30, less than five hours after the previous stolen vehicle, an officer was traveling westbound in the 200 block of S. Fifth when he received a notification on his ALPR software.

The vehicle alerted was a GMC Safari and was reported stolen on February 27 in El Centro.

The officer followed the vehicle and also requested additional officers. After conducting a high risk stop, officers arrested 50-year-old Guillermo Martin and 42-year-old Nancy Solorzano.

Marin and Solorzano were booked at the county jail for felony possession of a stolen vehicle. Marin was also booked for an unrelated misdemeanor arrest warrant.

The last incident was reported on Thursday, May 31, approximately 8:17 a.m. when a CPD dispatcher was alerted to a stolen vehicle in the area of 500 South Imperial Avenue by ALPR cameras in the area.

The stolen vehicle was a red Chevrolet Trailblazer. The dispatch center immediately notified officers of the alert and conducted a high risk stop in the 1500 block of Pico Avenue and detained two Arizona residents.

Both occupants were released pending further investigation.
