Eastbound I-8 exit to West Main Street closed starting Saturday

Starting Saturday, construction crews will close the eastbound Interstate 8 off-ramp to West Main Street in El Cajon at 7 p.m. to repair pavement, Caltrans said.

The closures are expected to last 24 hours. A detour will be set to direct drivers to continue on eastbound I-8 to the Magnolia Avenue exit, then travel north on Magnolia Avenue to the westbound I-8 entrance ramp to West Main Street.

The operation will allow crews to complete the pavement replacement within the 24 hours rather than scheduling it for several nights.

These replacements are part of a one-year pavement rehabilitation project on I-8 from the over-crossing at Lake Murray Road in La Mesa to Johnson Avenue in El Cajon.
