All hail the queen at Buena Park’s Medieval Times

For the first time in in the company’s 34-year tradition there is a new ruler on the throne, it’s a queen, not a king at the Buena Park’s Medieval Times.

Medieval Times is a chain of nine “castles” where guests get to see beautiful purebred Spanish horses, knights jousting on horseback, and sword-fighting.

Along with the show, guests get to enjoy a royal meal that resembles the castle’s setting and environment.

Medieval Times says guest feedback contributed to the decision to place a female on the throne for the production.

“Our new female queen is a sign of the times and we couldn’t be more excited to bring her to Southern California,” said Pedro Goite, Medieval Times Buena Park General Manager. “Historically, female characters have held strong supporting roles in our production, but now we are showing a woman in charge who is respected throughout the kingdom for her authority, leadership and incredible strength. And she definitely rises to the occasion.”

The announcement of a new matriarchal storyline was greeted with both cheers and chants.

“Although the theme is Medieval Times, it’s not constricted to the notion that only kings could rule or that only kings have the power to entertain,” said guest Justine Luong. “The queen becoming the lead role is definitely breaking barriers.”

Each section in the arena celebrates their victory or boos their counterpart to show support for their knight.

A new storyline comes with significant changes to the show. The Southern California castle’s new production features more than 700 new costumes, new music, and an all new script.

Tickets for the dinner and show start close to $40.00, making it a summer fun attraction.
