Local teens arrested on prom night following vehicle collision

Two local teens were arrested on prom night following a vehicle collision.

After an evening of music Saturday, police say the Calexico teenagers decided to race their cars. One of the drivers lost control of the vehicle and hit a speed limit sign and light pole then veered off the road. That driver was handcuffed by law enforcement for reckless driving and getting behind the wheel without a license. According to law enforcement, the driver of the damaged car had been traveling 80 to 90 miles per hour and ended up 300 feet away from the first area of impact. The second driver was handcuffed for participating in the speed contest.

Calexico Police say one passenger in one of the vehicles was transported to the local hospital after sustaining minor injuries.
