Two-vehicle collision leads to one dead
A two-vehicle collision left one person dead while traveling on State Route 86 near Coombs Drive near Salton City at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday.
An ongoing investigation by California Highway Patrol revealed that 30-year-old Anthony Ramirez was driving a 1989 Dodge passenger car northbound in the right lane of Coombs Drive. Two passengers were in the vehicle with Ramirez.
64-year-old Glynn Dixon was driving a 2018 Volvo northbound in the left lane of Coombs Drive when Ramirez lost control of his vehicle. He swerved right in front of Dixon causing the collision.
The impact resulted in several injuries with one of Ramirez’s passengers sustaining fatal injuries.
The collision remains under investigation.
