25-year-old woman arrested after allegedly smuggling heroin inside prison

A 25-year-old woman from El Monte, Calif. was arrested after allegedly smuggling heroin inside Calipatria State Prison on Sunday.

Reyna Ramales Parra was visiting an inmate when visiting staff noticed she was trying to hide something in her blouse.

Officials asked Parra for a consented search which led to the discovery of five bindles that tested positive for heroin.

The bindles had a combined weight of 11.1 grams of suspected heroin that has an estimated prison value of $8,325.

Parra was arrested and faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
