Police confirm boating accident on Ferguson Lake

The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office and Yuma County Sheriff’s Office confirm that a boating accident happened Saturday night in Ferguson Lake.

Authorities said that two vessels collided around 4:00 p.m. at the lake off the Colorado River. One patient was flown to Phoenix due to their injuries. Two other patients were taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center.

A fourth person, a 37-year-old male, remains missing and unaccounted for after the collision.

Imperial County Sheriff’s Office dive team, Yuma Border Patrol BORSTAR dive team, Imperial Irrigation District dive team, Imperial County Sheriff’s Office boating units, Yuma County Sheriff’s Office and Imperial County Sheriff’s Aero Squadron, will continue to search for the missing party.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
