Change of Command ceremony

The “Change of command” took place this morning at YPG as Command Sergeant Major Christopher Prosser transferred his responsibilities to his successor, Command Sgt. Maj. Jamathon Nelson, making Nelson the senior enlisted advisor commander of YPG.

You may remember Sgt. Maj. Prosser from the 75th anniversary of YPG as we interviewed him and colonel Poppenberger for the big event. It was Prosser that was in charge of the celebration and helped it be the success that it was with nearly 12,000 people in attendance according to officials. After successfully completing his nearly two-year assignment at YPG, Prosser is now on his way to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas as Sgt. Maj. of the mission command Center for Excellence. We caught up with newly appointed command sgt. major Nelson to hear what he plans to bring to his new position.

“I hope to carry on exactly what Sgt. Maj. Prosser has done. The comradery….. Safety’s my big thing,” said Nelson.

Nelson also adds that he wants to focus on community outreach from YPG. The ceremony started with military freefall jumpers and concluded with the singing of the army song with about 100 people in attendance.
