Local schools make a visit to JA Biztown
United Way of Yuma County along with several community volunteers took a trip to Tempe, AZ, with nearly 100 fifth graders on Thursday, March 22.
Students from G.W. Carver Elementary and OC Johnson Community School visited a town called JA Biztown for a hands-on program that introduces students to economic concepts, workplace skills and personal and business finances in a student-sized town built just for them.
JA BizTown is an indoor city where students assume roles of business leaders and consumers for a daylong, immersive career-prep experience.
In partnership with Yuma Elementary School District the United Way of Yuma County program introduces fifth graders to future career opportunities.
