ECRMC’s fight against diabetes

Guadalupe Heredia and the El Centro Regional Medical Center are on a mission to save as many lives as they can in the community with free diabetes assessments.

” Here in Imperial County, we have sixteen point nine percent people diagnosed already with diabetes. That means that all those people that have been diagnosed, their families are at risk for pre-diabetes.”

So far, Guadalupe says local residents have made the initiative to see what they can do to prevent their health from declining. “They are asking, where’s it going to be. What time. They’re very enthusiastic about learning how to prevent type two diabetes.”

Guadalupe says, they’ll go wherever the community needs them. “In the fight against diabetes, we are taking the lead to help our community be healthier. And improve their quality of life through the education process. “

The El Centro Regional Medical Center, hopes to launch the Diabetes Prevention Program within the next month which will be free to the public. They have educational classes offered throughout the valley. For more information call the El Centro Regional Medical Center call center or visit their social media.
