New dog park in town

It’s national puppy day and what better way to celebrate then to announce the opening of a new dog park in town.

The city of Somerton is finishing the final touches on it’s first ever dog park. The demand for one has been high ever since ‘Pet Palooza’ took off. Every year, that event gets bigger and bigger and the need for an official place for people to bring their dogs has been in high demand. The park is located right off of south union ave, right past Joe Muñoz Park.

“On the south side we are going to have it for the larger dogs and on the north side we’re having it for the smaller dogs. we just hope that the community will come out, bring their pets and enjoy the park once we have it up and running,” said Rodney Rinehart, Park Supervisor.

They plan on installing everything from water troughs to waste stations along with exercise equipment, like the tires you see that the animals can play with. The park still is in search of a name, but the completion date is set for the end of April.
