Frida Kahlo festival kicks off this weekend

Even six decades after her death, Mexican artist Frida Kahlo remains an important figure in the world of arts and history. Local art gallery Palomino Arts is starting a new tradition by honoring the artist this weekend with their 1st annual Frida Kahlo Festival.

The 2 day event kicks off with a reception on Friday, March 16th at 5pm and goes on until 9pm, where they will have various inspired Frida Kahlo art pieces on display.

The celebration continues with a festival on Saturday, March 17th from 5pm until 10pm at the Palomino Arts Gallery.

Anything from bright colors to live music, various food vendors and big jewelry you can expect at this weekend event.

Twenty artists will showcase their Frida inspired work through various forms of art. That includes pieces made out of ceramics, sculptures, and handmade jewelry, just to name a few.

Local artists will have the chance to show off their work, plus, you can expect some art work from a couple angeleno artists.

The event will also feature exclusive art pieces from the owner herself, Martha Palomino, a costume parade contest, where you can dress up as Frida Kahlo yourself, food, wine and more.

Admission is free to the public.

Doors open at 5pm on Friday, March 16th and Saturday, March 17th.
