Farm Fresh Forks brings a vegetable tasting experience
Wine tasting might have some competition.
In Yuma, vegetables are mimicking the wine tour game by offering tastings from locally sourced vegetables picked feet away.
Yuma is changing the game because no one else is doing it. Farm Fresh Forks is a vegetable tasting program similar to the wine tasting experience.
Each week a different grower will deliver three foods to the restaurants — lettuce, spinach, cauliflower, for instance, and they might turn it into an artisan lettuce wrap with colored cauliflower, hummus, and roasted broccoli on the side.
Am I making you hungry yet? It’s a chance to show off the assortment of vegetable flavors, textures and colors that Yuma not offers locally but to millions of people.
“You take the growers hard work and the chefs talent in the kitchen and they create these tastings that are out of this world really. We have many people who say I would never taste that vegetable or this vegetable but when they put that chefs spin on it, they love it!,” said Kristan Sheppeard organizer of Farm Fresh Forks.
You don’t have to sign up to experience this tasting. All you have to do is be a customer of the restaurant. They will offer you a complementary tasting plate. The best part, you will learn more about where your food is coming from.
Farm fresh forks is offered Tuesday through Saturday at 6 restaurants now through March 30.
