Locals head to Southern California to see snow
It is snowing in Southern California. Julian and Pine Valley have been hot spots for people looking to see snow. Individuals from surrounding areas such as Yuma are commuting just to see the white ice crystals.
Areas with elevations of 6000 feet have seen 10 inches of snow. Mountains between 4000 and 6000 feet have seen 3 to 6 inches. Areas 2500 to 4000 feet are seeing up to 3 inches of snow.
One woman named Lilly Gonzalez from Yuma shared these photos with us. They were taken on her trip out there today. Lilly says this photo was taken at Golden Acorn Casino off Interstate 8:

We also have photos from Mauro Rodriguez who lives in Yuma but also went to Julian today and saw snow. Here’s are some photos:

Here is an image of our satellite and radar earlier today that shows the storm system heading to the east:
Through the evening we will see moderate to heavy snow showers in that area. Motorists should take caution. Anyone heading there should be careful when commuting. There is a Winter Storm Warning which was issued from the National Weather Service. It remains in effect until 10 p.m. tonight for that area. Snow showers will gradually start to diminish tonight. But tomorrow morning Arizona will be getting snow next. The snow will return to Pine Valley again on Saturday.
