Crash on I-8 leaves one dead and one injured
A crash resulted in one death Tuesday afternoon in Imperial County.
California Highway Patrol reported that a 2004 Toyota Tacoma was traveling westbound on I-8 when a Nissan Altima collided with the vehicle causing it to overturn.
Officers said one of the passengers in the Toyota did not have a seatbelt on and was ejected due to the impact. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center. CHP said the remaining passengers of the Toyota Tacoma were transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center.
The driver of the Nissan was not hospitalized.
CHP said the collision is currently under investigation.
