Child writes letter to God asking for help from alleged bullying teacher

A Calexico mother said her 10-year-old child wrote a letter to God after saying she had been bullied by her teacher and classmates, and she wanted them to stop bullying her.

Susie Pena, the child’s mother, went to the school to complain.

She said, “We’re here to stop bullying and I’m doing this because they’re bullying three of my daughters. She also made a letter to God saying to make her more intelligent because the teacher makes her feel like she’s dumb. And I think that’s not right, because the teachers are to teach not to make kids feel bad.”

On Thursday night, she and other parents crowded the Calexico School District regular meeting demanding something be done about bullying.

Maricela Magana, parent of another child allegedly bullied at school, said, “Enough is enough. I send my kids to get educated not to be bullied. The staff should be here to help us out.”

She believes bullying is a factor in tragedies such as school shootings.

“I’m here for the simple reason I don’t want anything to happen what’s going on in other schools, Florida. My son does not deserve this. No other kid should deserve this. No other kid should come to school and try to kill other kids,” Magana said.

They blamed the school for not putting a stop to bullying.

“The reason I think are coming to shoot other kids is because the staff members are not doing their job,” Magana said.

The parents at the meeting said bullying hurts whole families.

“I’m trying to stop bullying because three of my daughters are suffering from bullying in Dool School,” Pena said.

A young woman who didn’t want to be identified said her sister is being bullied in school and now suffers depression and anxiety. She said seeing her sister like that affects her and the whole family.

Magana said she wants the community to come together against bullying.

“I wish a lot of parents would get together, if the board members don’t do their job, we could send out letters to congress, to other people that are going to help us. I do not want to get a call from school that my kid was in a shootout,” Magana said.

We reached out to Dool School and Calexico District officials for comment but they were not available.
