Foothills Cruisers Car Club donate teddy bears to children at YRMC
The Foothills Cruisers Car Club delivered Teddy Bears to children at Yuma Regional Medical Center on Tuesday.
It’s a relationship between the club and the hospital that has been thriving for the past three years.
The Cruisers hold their annual car show the Saturday before Super Bowl Sunday. They raise funds and even collect Teddy Bears during the event so that they are able to donate to children in need.
“This is our third annual car show that at the completion we end up collecting funds and bears so that we can donate them here at YRMC in the Yuma area and help out our children who are in need,” Richard Craig, a member of the car club, said.
Tuesday, the car club donated around 700 Teddy Bears to Yuma Regional Medical Center, helping the children in the process.
“They end up here in the hospital, for one reason or another, whether it’s in the emergency department or long-term care, they need a little comfort while they are here,” Craig added.
It’s an event the YRMC staff also looks forward to every year.
“One little stuffed animal can brighten their day and make their stay a whole lot better means the world to us,” Dorie Rush, Administrative Director of Women and Child Services, said.
The Foothills Cruisers Car Club wants to remind the public that they hold their car show before the Super Bowl and each year they try to surpass their goal of Teddy Bears.
“Come on by, help us out, participate. This year we were able to get 700 Teddy Bears for the hospital and next year we want to do more,” Craig said.
