INNOVATION AGRICULTURE TECH SUMMIT
WITH THE ISSUES FACING THE AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY TODAY, THE GREAT MINDS FROM FARMERS AND TECHNOLOGY INNOVATORS, MET TO FIND A SOLUTION.
WESTERN GROWERS, WHO REPRESENTS SOME IN THE AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA AND ARIZONA, HOSTED THE FIRST INNOVATION IN THE IMPERIAL VALLEY BACKYARD SUMMIT, TO HELP MOVE THE INDUSTRY FORWARD THROUGH TECHNOLOGY.
WESTERN GROWERS CONSULTANT DIRECTOR, DENNIS DONOHUE, SAID, ” WELL, WERE MAKING IT TODAY . THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WE’VE HELD THIS EVENT. BUT THERES A STRATEGY BEHIND THIS SUMMIT. WE ARE TRYING TO SHIFT A LOT OF THE AG TECH CONVERSATIONS IN THE BAY AREA AND THE TECHNOLOGY CORNER AND PRODUCTION CORNER. WE THINK THAT’S REALLY IMPORTANT.SO ONE OF THE THEME ON TODAYS EVENT IS, WE’RE BRINGING AG TECH TO YOUR BACKYARD.”
THEY WANT BRING TECHNOLOGY INTO THE PRODUCTION AREA SUCH AS THE IMPERIAL VALLEY.
THERE’S A LOT OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH AND IDEAS BY MECHANIZING AGRICULTURE.
THEY WANT TO COME INTO THE COMMUNITIES AND SUPPORT THE ACTIVITIES GOING ON.
THEY BELIEVE THAT BY BRINGING TECHNOLOGY INTO AGRICULTURE, THEY CAN FOSTER A CONNECTION AND SOLVE ISSUES SUCH AS LABOR, WATER AND FERTILIZATION.
THEY HOPE TO BRING BOTH WORLDS TOGETHER, WITH NETWORKING, INFORMATION AND EDUCATION TO GROW AND MAKE THINGS TOGETHER, AND I NTRODUCE GROWERS TO SOME OF THE THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING IN THE TECH CENTERS OF THE WORLD.
WESTERN GROWERS WANT TO HELP GIVE FARMERS THE MARKET ACCESS AND BY HAVING THE SUMMIT, THEY CAN IMPROVE THE PROCESS OF AUTOMATION AND GATHERING DATA.
BUT THERE’S THE CHALLENGE OF MAKING SENSE OF THE NEEDS IN BOTH INDUSTRIES. THEY HOPE TO GET THINGS DONE TO CREATE A COMMON FUTURE, SAVING THE GROWER’S MONEY, REDUCE WASTE AND MAKING THINGS BETTER FOR THE WORLD.
THERE WAS ALSO A STUDENT SHOWCASE EARLIER IN THE DAY WHO GOT THE CHANCE TO GET A REAL FEEL WHERE SOME OF THE OPPORTUNITIES WERE TO MECHANIZE.
THE FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT FOR FARMERS AND THE TECH WORLD, WHO LOOK TO PIONEER AMERICA’S DESTINY INTO THE NEXT DECADE.
