Car crashes into home on Magnolia Avenue

We are getting reports of a car that crashed into a home on 16 th Pl and Magnolia Ave, Friday evening.

According to neighbors, the vehicle crashed into the home’s garage.

Authorities are currently at the scene and now have the driver in custody.

The homeowner spoke to us at the scene and said that this is the second time this has happened and has asked the City of Yuma for speed bumps.

According to the homeowner, the driver of the Red Dodge attempted to run away but was apprehended by a neighbor.

UPDATE:

Initial investigation revealed an adult male, Israel Medel, was driving southbound on Magnolia Ave at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle struck a light pole before going through a chain link fence and colliding with an occupied residence. Substantial structural damage was caused to the home. Medel was arrested on-scene and later booked into the Yuma County Adult Detention Center for several offenses including Aggravated DUI and Endangerment. The occupants of the residence reported only minor injuries.
